Pensions. Employment rights. Privatisation. It’s in all our interests that Labour and Unite tackle these - and many other - crucial issues in the right way.
So it’s vital that the voice of ordinary Unite members is heard. Unfortunately, the process of forming those policies seems distant and daunting to many people.
But we want that to change – and we need your help to make that happen. Which is why we are looking for volunteers to talk to members directly on what they think Labour and Unite should be doing.
So over the next few months, Unite will be organising a series of ‘phone bank’ sessions – one to two hour slots in Unite regional offices where volunteers canvass members’ opinions over the phone. These views will feed directly into Labour’s national policy forum in July.
Unite political co-ordinator Vicky Foxcroft says: ‘This is a chance to work alongside Unite colleagues, find out about the views of fellow members and feed into the national policy forum. All volunteers will have a script and there will be training if required. Most importantly, it will be fun!’
Details are currently being finalised but phone bank sessions will probably run 5pm-7pm Tuesdays and Thursdays in your nearest regional office.
See you there!
