CIC seeks Policy and Public Affairs Officer
A significant opportunity has arisen to help develop crucial Policy and Public Affairs activities within the Construction Industry Council (CIC).

The Policy & Public Affairs Officer will assist the Chief Executive and other senior staff in being responsible for developing the CIC's public policies and campaigns, on a diverse range of issues including sustainable construction, health & safety, design quality, procurement and improved standards. These duties will include:-

• Producing responses to government consultation documents and writing public policy statements, speeches and reports.

• Essential communications and networking with parliamentarians, civil servants and the industry.

• Managing and co-ordinating CIC policy lines working alongside a range of specific committees and task groups within CIC.

• Attending meetings and recording minutes, as part of liaising extensively with key members in the construction industry.

Ideal candidates will have excellent writing and research skills and ideally might have previous experience in a public affairs capacity although this is not essential. An understanding of national and regional public policy mechanisms would also be beneficial, as is a keen, genuine interest in current public affairs.

Interviews will be held on 22 April and 29 April.
The closing date for applications is 4 April 2008.
