NCT calls for clear bottle labelling
Bisphenol A - Risk From Baby Feeding Bottles
Baby bottles should be clearly labelled in the future in the interest of health and safety, the National Child Trust (NCT) has said.
These calls follow research that has warned against the use of Bisphenol A in baby bottles, as it could be putting babies' health at risk.
Labels should be used to define what chemicals have been used in the creation of baby bottles, so parents are more informed about the problem, the body stated.
Chief executive of the NCT Belinda Phipps commented that the risk of such chemicals is still "uncertain" but parents remain "unaware" of the problem.
"As a first step, it is important that bottles and other items that might reach a baby's mouth, are labelled in a standard and easy to understand way," she remarked.
Currently, the NCT is also promoting the benefits of breastfeeding, encouraging mothers to "breastfeed with pride". More on this story
