Ready meals 'out of favour' with Brits
More Britons are turning their backs on ready meals, new research has suggested.

According to market research firm Mintel, 41% of Brits prepare their meals using fresh ingredients.

This is compared to survey results from five years ago, when only a quarter of Brits said they cook their dinners from scratch.

Richard Caines from Mintel explained why ready meals are not as popular as they once were.

"It is clear that Brits are keen to get back in the kitchen and rekindle their love affair with good old fashioned home-cooked fare," he said.

"One of the main reasons for this is our growing interest in eating more healthy, freshly-made dishes that are better for you."

The research also revealed that only one in ten Brits use the microwave to prepare an evening meal.

Mintel stated earlier in the month that consumers are increasingly buying naturally healthy products, the Independent reports.
