Wales’ diverse range of food a drink products will be on show to the world next month at one of the world’s largest trade events, SIAL (October 19-23).
Held at the Parc des Expositions in Paris the bi-ennial event is one of the most important trade showcases for the global food and drink industry, attracting retail buyers, importers and distributors from across the world.
One of the largest events of its kind, the 2006 show attracted over 140,000 visitors from 191 countries and featured more than 5,000 exhibitors from 99 countries situated in 93 international and regional pavilions.
A number of Welsh companies will be exhibiting and featured at SIAL under the Welsh Assembly Government’s International Business Wales and True Taste banner.
Among them is Abergavenny Fine Foods with a host of new dishes including a Tex Mex range, oriental range, Empanadas, and vegetarian desserts.
The Monmouthshire company has created a whole host of new dishes for 2009 for both the food service and retail sectors.
Teriyaki Beef & Bean Sprout Jiaozi Pastry Parcels, Kung Po Vegetable Wontons, Bourbon Pulled Pork & Mozzarella Taquitos, Chillied Beef Empanadas, Cheese & Onion Finger in a crispy beer & lime batter, Mini Steak & Chilli Jack Taquitos, and Crispy Coated Red Jalapeno Peppers with Monterey Jack are among the 20 new dishes as are vegetarian desserts Black Forrest Belgian Chocolate Soufflé and Sicilian Lemon Soufflé.
South Wales food manufacturer, Lovemore Free from Foods will be making its SIAL debut with its range of wheat, gluten and dairy-free products shown in retail and food service formats.
The company will be showing a range of confectionary from its Lovemore Free From brand, including Chocolate Chip Cookies, Apple & Sultana Cookies, Cherry Shortcake, Iced Fruit Cake Slices, Chocolate Brownies, Mince Pies and Florentine Mince Pies.
In addition products from several Welsh food and drink companies will be sampled on the IBW stand, including: The Welsh Whisky Company, Llanllyr Water Company Ltd, Anglesey Sea Salt, The Real Crisp Company, Fayrefield Foods (Colliers Cheese), and Ty-Nant Spring Water Ltd.
While another Welsh company, Radnor Hills Mineral Water Ltd, will also be exhibiting at SIAL supported by IBW, and can be located on the Food From Britain stand in the Drinks Hall.
Radnor Hills will be launching its new Heartsease Farm range of premium adult soft drinks. Created by blending pure spring water with fruit juice the new range includes a mix of white grape juice with elderflower essence, and red grape juice with blackcurrant juice creating the perfect alternative to a glass of wine.
The Heartsease Farm drinks are a sister range to Heartsease Spring Water and join a wide range of soft drinks – both still and sparkling - from Radnor Hills.
As a showcase for innovation and a truly global business platform, SIAL is the world's leading food industry show. Over 140,000 visitors and 5,300 exhibitors are present at this key event for food industry professionals: food manufacturers, distributors, importers, retailers and wholesalers, institutional and commercial catering etc.
