There has been a phenomenal amount of activity in the past few months. Quiet summers with everyone away on vacation and the lack of undergraduates on campus has been a distant memory for some time. The summer of 2008 was particularly hectic and condensing this into a short article will be difficult, but I’ll try to give you a sense of some of the high visibility items.

Wall Street West (www.wallstreetwest.org) is a federal and state-funded program created to develop a total backup solution in Northeastern and Central PA for New York City financial institutions in the event of a disaster. A critical part of the success of this long term effort is education. Starting in the grade schools, students must be prepared to understand finance and economics well enough to making good decisions affecting their lives as consumers and investors. Seeking to create an integrated and sustainable economic and workforce development system, Wall Street West launched its Innovation Investments program in May 2007.
