The prestigious Management Awards are organised by the MCA, and run in association with Management Today. The awards aim to identify the best case studies in each of ten categories, where organisations, in the private or public sector, have achieved a significant improvement in performance with the assistance of management consultants, either in-house or external. People risks – Rated as a major threat to the public sector

A new MCA report sponsored by Ernst & Young, ‘The upside of risk – Improving performance in the public sector’ released on 18th September 2007 has found that a difficulty in maintaining the motivation and morale of staff is seen as the biggest threat facing public sector organisations now and in the future. In a survey of 100 senior civil servants, reputational and people risks were rated as major current threats by 32 per cent and 30 per cent respectively, however managers said that people and resource risks would grow to become the biggest threat.

Today, very few businesses would publicly say that climate change isn’t happening or that it’s not worth tackling.  Across the board, organisations boast about how green they are, using elaborate investments to offset their carbon emissions.  However, carbon management is only the tip of the iceberg.......

MCA in the News – September 2007

This month, the MCA has created a number of national media opportunities for members and the Association. Firstly, coverage is expected in two Financial Times Reports; focusing on Business Turnaround and Graduate Recruitment. Interviews were arranged between journalists and Fiona Czerniawska and also a case study and commentator was put forward from member firm, Accenture for the report on Graduate Recruitment.
