School of Tourism and Hospitality Management capstone prepares students for the real world

There is something different about a Temple University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) graduate, a certain “Be all that you can be” aura. It comes from the boot camp of the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, better known as the Senior Seminar.

In this capstone class, students function as a corporation to plan, organize, market and finance STHM events.

Forum: Commercialization of High School Sports

High school sports have become increasingly commercialized in recent years.

On Nov. 28, the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management’s Sport Administration 501 Corp. class presented "Lights, Camera, Action: The Increasing Commercialization of High School Sports" - a panel discussion of industry professionals concerning topics such as corporate sponsorship in interscholastic athletics, the selling of naming rights to high school facilities, the greater level of competitiveness in the recruitment of high school athletes, and the growing popularity of high school sports in the mass media.

Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management wins 2006 award for community excellence

Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management received the 2006 Excellence in the Community Award by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Division of the March of Dimes. The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management received this honor for its work as a good community partner, its powerful impact on Philadelphia’s hospitality and tourism community, and its dedication to developing the area’s hospitality and tourism industry.
