Media mogul Ted Turner talks on growing green leaders

According to Executive in Residence Ted Turner, protecting the environment and becoming a green leader begins with “small things.” “Pick up a piece of trash; turn out the lights; talk to your family and friends,” Turner advised a packed room of Temple School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) students in the Great Court of Mitten Hall during an April 8th forum on “Growing Green Leaders.”

While Ted Turner is most well known for his work with cable television, he is also a prominent environmentalist and in 2002 he and his business partner George McKerrow Jr. launched Ted’s Montana Grill, a restaurant chain noted for its sustainable practices.

Sports Entrepreneurs Boot Camp trains aspiring sports entrepreneurs

One former wide receiver of the Philadelphia Eagles earned nearly $60 million while playing for the team. But you don’t have to be an athletic demi-god to make money in sports. On November 7th, at the Boot Camp, hosted by the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management and its Sport/Recreation Administration Program, and by the Fox School of Business’s Legal Studies department and its Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, aspiring entrepreneurs had the chance to gain advice from those in the upper echelons of the sports field.
