Sport and Recreation Management Program Assisting in Combating the Homeless Quandary
One of the most famous American runners in history, Steve Prefontaine once said, “A race is a work of art that people can look at and be affected in as many ways as they're capable of understanding." As Prefontaine explained, running affects people’s lives and in the case of the organization, Back on My Feet, a Philadelphia-based running club is changing the lives of the Philadelphia homeless community every time they put on their running shoes. Steven Korman Exemplifies Compassion in Business
The phrase “You’re fired,” has become Donald Trump’s slogan for ruthless success in the business world. However, Steven Korman would argue that Trump is far from a paradigm of success.

Korman is the CEO of Korman Communities, chairman of the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) Board of Visitors and a returning Executive in Residence for STHM. This successful hospitality professional, real estate developer and philanthropist spoke to over 70 STHM students on March 25, 2009, about the importance of compassion in business.

Senior Seminar Educates Through Experience

After working to complete coursework, industry hours and internships, Temple’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) seniors must pass the final test: the Senior Professional Development Seminar, administered by Assistant Dean Jeffrey Montague.

Montague, who has been teaching the class for 18 years now, explained, “My original goal was to create a fictitious business environment within the classroom which would include a president, vice president, committee chairs, and members or staff roles. It migrated into a real company called Montague and Associates.”

Michael Roberts Motivates Students to Take Action
An “Actionaire” is someone who pursues his or her dreams with courage, confidence and bravado. Michael V. Roberts, chairman and CEO of The Roberts Companies, and STHM’s newest executive in residence, coined the term in his book, Action Has No Season, Secrets and Strategies to Gaining Wealth and Authority. More than 50 STHM students, faculty and administration had the opportunity to listen to this real life Actionaire and role model when he made his first visit to Philadelphia on Feb. 27, 2009.
