2008 has been something of a roller coaster ride for many people. The articles in this newsletter look at 2008 from TCL's perspective and provide a few of our ideas to make 2009 more positive and productive than the doom and gloom merchants would have us believe possible. In November, TCL welcomed a new associate, Aaron Webber, into the team. From Australia but with UK ancestry, Aaron has been working in this country for 2 years. He is a specialist in the area of information risk and trained with PWC in Australia.

The credit crunch has had a far ranging impact. Across financial services, tens of thousands have lost their jobs. Household names such as Lehman Bothers have disappeared and others such as Merrill Lynch have sought the safety of larger partners. Others such as Northern Rock, RBS and Lloyds TSB/HBOS have been wholly or partially nationalised. House prices are tumbling and high street names such as Woolworths and MFI are in administration. In our 5 point plan, we look at some of the things you can do for your business to weather the storm and prepare to take advantage of emerging opportunities.

2008 has been a year of playing to our strengths with consulting assignments predominantly focussed on change management, information risk management and physical security risk management. The first has lead us to develop more training offerings which are described in our Training article elsewhere in this newsletter. The risk consulting has lead us to identify the need to bring together awareness, policies & standards publication, and process support into a single user environment. TCL are developing new risk portals to do just that.
